Wow, Joe, What a great list. I'll add 'Grandmother's Hat' A wonderful shrub rose that can be grown as a climber. No disease , rich fragrance and blooms all year here ( Richmond- zone 17) - with irrigation .

I live a mile from the coast in zone 24. Lots of fog and wind. The rose
Reve d'Or (noisette) on my south-facing front fence has been very good.
Crepuscule has been a disappointment, suffering constant mildew. It is new,
and I'll give it one more year to shape up, as I like its graceful form and
the flower color is what I want. (It is supposed to bloom when the
persimmons behind it are ripe.) Cathy

Some years ago, I started collecting info from rosarians in this area and other areas with cool, moist Mediterranean summers (no rain but the ubiquitous "night and morning low clouds" and damp nights). I put together this list of roses that are easy here. They are RELATIVELY disease free and they do not have the large full blossoms that "ball" up in damp weather. Those marked with an "*" (asterisk) are fragrant (another trait hard to come by in our coolness).

What I've found out, also, is that because of the predominantly sandy soils of this area, we struggle even with most of these because roses, as a group, love heavy soil. But I do have a list of roses for sandy soils!!!!
Good rose-growing, Joe
