There is a CNPS sponsored native gardens symposium coming up in February at Foothill College on the SF Peninsula that has Bernard Trainor, Landscape Architect, speaking along with well respected names in the field.  Bernard will particularly address design issues with native plants, including the sense of place.  It’s filling up fast.  More details at
