I've recently re-found the following pages in an older issue of the Sunset Western Garden Book (1988).  They contain a table of information about when to plant common vegetable in what Sunset climate zone (a very concise system that details our various microclimates here on the west coast of the USA).  These zone represent various _expression_ of the mediterranean climate.  With all of the current interest in growing food, I am surprised that Sunset magazine has not republished this information.
