After reflecting on the replies on my sweet pea problem, I believe the more
likely cause is the enation virus or one of the legume viruses. I believe
my cultural practices have been sound, double dug beds, liberal addition of
organic matter, etc. Growing sweet peas during the winter in Southern
California provides the cooler temperatures and moisture needed. This is
the only problematic area in my garden; the rest of the garden thrives. I
grow tomatoes in this same bed during the summer and last summer had a
reasonable crop. I'll rest this bed for now (and leave the Solanum in
place!). Thanks for the help.
