Re: our lords candle


It was so wonderful up there, i saw the Y. whipplei while collecting
brides bower ( not sure of its latin name either :( ) but its an annual
vine and when its setting seed they have these fluffy cotton ball like
seed heads and long fuzzy tails on the seeds. They dont get very thick
but you can see hundreds of these seed heads on late summer all over
the Salvia melliferas. Sometimes ( actually most of the time :)  ) we
had to climb steep mountain sides to get to the brides bower seeds.  We
had to brave poison oak and slippery sloes to get to it! There were
also hundreds of Pennesetum clumps all along the road side ( the
invasive green type, not the purple fountain grass)
