Re: temps

I didn't take any temperature readings during our recent cold snap, but most
of us have observed that it definitely wasn't as bad as 1991. The coldest
minimum temperature I've heard reported in the Stockton (Central Valley) area
was 24 degrees Fahrenheit. During the 1991 cold snap, I believe we had a low
of 18 degrees, and several days when the weather never got above freezing.
Many plants that were severely damaged or killed during that freeze have
weathered the latest with no visible damage. Others merely look
"discouraged." Most things still look pretty good here. The only real
casualty I've noticed in my neighborhood was a large Hibiscus rosa-sinensis,
and those don't fare very well even in a normal winter.
