Without a doubt, Cabrillo College will be drawing crowds in a few years
when the new grounds are established.
Driving around in my Roman-Medit situation, I watched for the most obvious
and outstanding 'essences' growing here and could not limit myself to 10
suggestions. (Have you read my article in the latest 'The Mediterranean
Garden'?)
'Pinus pinea' (Umbrella Pine)
'Olea europaea' (Olives)
'Prunus dulcis' (Almonds)
'Quercus ilex' (Holm oaks)
'Arbutus unedo' (Strawberry Tree)
'Lauurus nobilis' (Sweet Bay)
'Pittosporum tobira' (Mock Orange)
'Myrtus communis' (Myrtle)
'Cystus' (Rock Rose)
'Capparis spinosa' (Caper-plant)
'Rosmarinus officinalis'
'Cynara scolymus' (Artichoke)
The capers and artichokes are beautiful plants that as of yet have not been
're-discovered' as visual additions to Mediterranean gardens.
Best wishes to you Ernie for a smooth and easy move!
