Re: What books to buy?

The series of picture books by Roger Phillips & Martyn Rix is marvelous, and very inclusive--there is one called "Shrubs", another on Bulbs, a 2 volume set on Perennials, one on Roses, one on Herbs, et al.  They are soft bound and relatively inexpensive.  If you can't find them in a local bookstore you can order on-line from Powell Books, which often has used copies for sale.

Subject: What books to buy?

I need a good book or books that show pictures so that I can recognize the plants people are writing about.  Would you please make a suggestion?  I have books on the common plants but would like something on the unusual etc.

I also need good books with pictures of insects etc.with information on what damage or good they do. Also what is used to get rid of them. I am looking for professional editions.

Thanks for your input.
