Thank you for your well thought response. This has been an interesting
thread - clearly there is much to think about this issue. Personally, I
would agree that there are many more options available to 'feed the staving
masses' than this road alone. Unfortunately, as is often the case in life,
many of these do not serve to create profit for middlemen, hence they go
underutilized. Part of what we're looking for here in the forum are more
appropriate means by which to grow plants in our unique climate. It would
seem that there is enough evidence to indicate that genetic manipulation
has enough controversy to force it to be shelved here for the time
being. Maybe someday men will find ways to use the radical science they
have created in ways driven more by altruism than profit.
