green soy beans (edamame)

I'm wondering if anyone in the S.F. Bay area (Berkeley) has
successfully grown edamame, the green soy beans eaten as a
snack in Japan. I love them and can't find an organic source
so I'd like to try growing them. I'm surprised that I
haven't found the seeds in any local nursery. Johnny's seed
catalog has them and, I think, Territorial Seed Company.

But--I don't want to order them unless I know that they will
grow in this climate because I'm not ordering any other
seeds and the postage would cost me as much as the seeds.
