American robins love Myrtus berries

I have a 4 foot Myrtus communis growing in a pot just outside the glass door
to the deck. It had a good crop of berries last fall, and they have hung on
the bush untouched all fall and winter. A couple days ago my husband looked
out the door to see a flock of American robins voraciously going after the
berries. These are thrush-sized birds, and aren't very agile fliers, so
they were clumsy about it but they cleaned off all the berries in less than
an hour. I wish I'd seen them. I'm so happy know I may get some myrtle
volunteers this year.
