Zonal Denial


Thanks for the sympathetic replies. I *was* of course gently sending
myself up (and gently joking about the seeds, too, David: I knew that
was a zone too far!): I'm not completely heartbroken - after all, if
you are in a state of, to steal David's phrase, zonal denial, you have
to expect the occasional kick in the teeth from The Big Whoever, to
remind you that you are not being entirely sensible. That's ok. I knew
I wasn't being entirely sensible. It's not being entirely sensible
which, to me, is a large part of the fun in gardening. 

So in a few weeks' time I shall give myself a good psychological shake
and dive back in at the deep end.

I forgot to say that one more slightly unexpected survivor - and a
survivor with apparently no damage at all - is Blepharocalyx
cruickshankii. Now all I need to do is persuade it to flower...
