RE: Ischia

Dear Edward,
unfortunately only the lower garden is wheel-chair accessible, and even there some parts are not (the main pool is sunken and can be reached only through steps). In his last years Sir William Walton  had to use a wheelchair and so wherever it was possible the garden was  paved and made comfortable and accessible. If you check at the garden's website(http://www.ischia.it/mortella/mappauk.htm)  you will see on the map what part of the garden I am referring to: basically, all the area below the house in the drawing, where the 6 red dots are. Of these dots, the one close to n.30 cannot be reached but only viewed from above.  However, some fine planting, the Victoria House, the collection of cycads, some beautiful fountains are within this accessible area. The rest of the garden, alas including the tea house,  is very rocky and steep, and most of  it is literally carved out of the hill's slope. I am sorry.
As for the tour in England,  I can't understand what you are referring to, I am not involved in the organization of any, but I would love to hear more about it!
All the best,
Alessandra

Alessandria, regarding visiting the Walton's garden, is any of it accessible at all for a wheel chair[sedia a rotelle]?
The tour this summer throgh England sounds very intresting. Have you a programme?
