Fwd: Flame trees of Kenya

Moira, this ought to be right up your alley!!!!!!.  Pretty tree, what is it?

We had some here that look a bit like that, but l\one would need a closeup of the flower and the leaf to identify it. Unless one has lived there!

The closet thing we have would be one of the Erythrinas, like crista-galli. But they are not in Africa            --Chas---

Having been in Kenya for a month I wanted to see the famous Flame Trees. Enclosed is a picture of what I thought was a Flame Tree but I was told it was not. (1) Does anyone recognise this tree and (2) Does anyone grow Flame trees in the Mediterranean?? The photo has been resized!
