RE: Climbing plants for pots

I have a Clematis Viticella group "Mme. Julia Correvon that has grown
happily in a pot for many years. The pot is tucked under a climbing rose,
Mme. Alfred Carriere and the vine grows up and is supported by the rose. The
pot also has freesia and a ground cover of white Sutera cordata (Bacopa) to
keep it looking good all year round. It is easy to provide the pot with
adequate water giving it moisture that an in ground plant would not get in
my garden

My only disappointment has been that the rose has usually finished its early
flush of blooms before the clematis starts to flower. Maybe the two Madames
don't like the competition!

Subject: Climbing plants for pots

I am often asked what climbing plants will do well in pots or containers
and usually suggest plants such as Trachelospermum jasminoides, Plumbago
capensis, Jasminum polyanthemum .... does anyone else have any
favourite climbers that they would sugest for permanent or semi
permanent planting in pots? Preferably plants that would survive winter
temperatures of -5/6°C!

Thank you
