RE: Moving Medit-Plants to a new list location

Hi Sean,

Here are some thoughts.

While a mass subscribe is easy and quick, I think the climate of today’s email is different than it was ten years ago or longer. Lots more desire for fewer emails and more control over incoming mail. Facebook is nice because it is a tab in a browser – all posts are in one place. I only subscribe to a couple of email lists these days. Used to belong to many.

Perhaps the individual option can address this?

Cheers,

Bracey

Subject: Moving Medit-Plants to a new list location

Hey folks -

So, I've been experimenting with various lists and now have a simple listserv that does the 'reply-to' the list as requested.  Testing has confirmed this.

Now to make the move - I can provide the new list provider with the names of current subscribers on this list, or you can individually subscribe yourselves.

A few folks have asked to be removed from this current list during this recent discussion, and I've noticed a few others silently unsubscribe.

If anyone decides they don't wish to participate in the new list, they can also unsubscribe or ask to be removed.

I have also talked with the keeper of the current list's archive on Hort.net about having the new list archived in the same place (so that both lists can be searched at the same time).

Any thoughts on the best way to make the move (mass list subscribe, or individual option)?

Also, when we move to the new list, be thinking about what sort of discussion you wish to happen there and consider how to post towards that goal.
