Sean, Tim, Ingrid and all:
I fell for a fake virus warning message some time ago called PENPAL
GREETINGS, which read almost the same. There is a Web page covering this
kind of hoax, which becomes doubly distressing for the person who sends it
after he realizes he has been taken. This is the URL:
http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html
And here is the first paragraph:
Internet Hoaxes
Hoaxes described on this page: PKZ300, Irina, Good Times, Good Times Spoof,
Deeyenda, Ghost PENPAL GREETINGS!, Make Money Fast, NaughtyRobot, AOL4FREE,
Join the Crew, Death Ray, AOL V4.0 Cookie, A.I.D.S. Hoax
Check it out - it's not possible to catch a virus by opening an e-mail.
Most come from system files (.COM, .DLL, EXE) and from macro viruses
embedded in MS Word documents.
