I know the seeds aren't illegal.  Besides, this is a double-flowered, strictly
ornamental variety.  You can buy several ornamental varieties from Thompson
and Morgan, and don't they put them on bagels and in muffins?  I obtained my
original seed from poppies that were growing in the median strip outside a
place of business in an industrial section of town.  I grow them in my
backyard, but I know of a number of gardeners, including my parents, who grow
them in their front yard and they haven't been arrested yet.  I think
ignorance, in this case, is bliss.
