Recently I read an article by Allen Lacy (popular American garden
writer) discussing the little plant, Swan River Daisy. We've all called
it Brachycome for so long. He maintains the correct spelling is
Brachyscome, and it is pronounced bra-KISS-co-may.
There's alot of hybridizing and selecting going on with this genus
in the trade today. Of course, the named selections are patented. But I
think we'll see alot of them this year in the nurseries here. A great
plant, blooms almost all year as it scrambles around between other
plants or spills out of containers.
I'd like to know from our Australian and New Zealand members which
spelling/pronunciation is correct, before I go passing it along to
classes.
Thanks, Jan
