The redbud is great suggestion - I have seen it on riverbanks, but
nothing as vertical as this one. Paulownia came to mind because of
having seen it in various botanical gardens, and along streambanks, with
massive roots. I hadn't read anywhere about it spreading - and I have
never seen seedlings under it where I have seen it - maybe they are just
very good about pulling them out.
