Drunken snails

Don't know if it's a fact but I read someone or another did a study and
found that snails are indeed attracted by beer. So attracted they will
travel from far from your garden to come belly up to your bar. So really, a
beer dish is drawing snails to your plantings. And as was pointed out, not
all or even most are guaranteed to drown. I have concluded the thing to do
is sneak the beer dish into your neighbor's garden or just step on them when
you see them. (The snails, not the neighbors.)
I share Liz's concerns about Slug and Snail pellets being deadly to far more
than snails. I know cats for instance will eat them and as I like cats, I
see that as a bad thing. I'm sure the pet owners in your neighborhood do,
too.
