Barry: I routinely cover all my seed trays with discarded aluminum-framed
window screens, which I get from a local screen shop. One standard size
fits exactly four standard nursery flats.
This keeps the birds off, disperses heavy rain so that seeds are splashed
around, and probably helps prolong the germination season by limiting
drying when it starts to warm up.
