Hi there,
Got that book, and though I find it very interesting and beautiful, I
think the chapter on pruning is far too vague: in a specialized book
such as this, I was expecting more info, even drawings or photographs on
this very important subject. At that time we also had to fight against a
very ancient and huge Wisteria which was 'eating' a house. The owner was
worrying for if the weight of the vine could collapse his wooden
balcony. At the end, hanging from cords, the butcher began to cut all
the branches leaving just stumps from the two main trunks: work was
difficult with so much tangled growth. After the crime was committed,
the owner's wife was nearly into tears, but I assured her the plant
would resprout as vigorous as ever. I crossed my fingers and only a week
later the damned thing started to send green buttons all over its
Jurassic wood!!!. Now it's covered in green and everybody's happy. Till
next butcher's time.
Greetings,
