Didn't get the rain you did Julie, but some, and hoping for more. Our
almonds and prunes here in the Sutter Buttes, zone 8, are way too stressed
and we are thinking of irrigating even with the rain. It is lovely and
refreshing though, to feel the rain and see the plants get a shower.
Sure do have a million gophers this year. And now they are chewing like a
beaver. Found one of my plants, a medium size Berberis, with a chewed off
root. Right square across. I don't think a surface animal would approach
the prickly thorns of a Berberis would they? And what kind of varmint would
it be?? ........ Got to be a gopher.
We have set out our Macabees and will persevere.
