It's a sad thing, but so much of the lovely and commonly unique West
Australian flora is so finely adapted to extremely sandy poor soils and
dry summer heat that it tends to get indigestion in an ordinary garden
setting. However, around my area in central NZ, P. ferrugenea seems
relatively adaptable to the moister cooler climate as long as it is on
the lighter soils.
