I don't see why not. Grass grows from the base, instead of the tips
(usually), so you should be able to do it with no problems. The only
noticeable effect is the tips of the blades will be square instead of
pointed, of course. I always trim the blades of my Stipa giganteas
whenever the blades get ratty. They recover in a few weeks or so.
