Dear Karl and all,
The native jasmine gets only a very small amount of water that is run-off from the s/pool paving on the very few occasions when I am motivayed to 'sweep' the paving with the hose - all the water runs off onto the surrounding bits of soil that contain the 'hedge' of Chinese Star Jasmine on the pool fence. The native jasmine is planted in the same 'hedge' so competition is pretty fierce for water and nutrients. It is not a vigorous grower, nor is it dense - just a scrawny curiosity really, and defintely not planted as a specially desirable native plant. In truth, it was foisted on me by a journalist friend interstate who had been given it by a nurseryman in hope of a favourable write-up.
