Thanks for the response, with quite a bit of useful
information, much appreciated. I have tried Gardenia
thunbergii here in Berkeley, but think that it wants
heat to do anything, as it just refuses to grow here.
I hear that it does well down in <los Angeles,
however. I am in Mexico City at the moment, on my way
to Vera Cruz and then southern Mexico, and find that
the climate here in <mexico City appears very similar
to San Francisco. They are in the middle of the dry
season here, and all the vegetation is very dusty and
stressed looking, the smog must be unbelievable here
generally, but these past few days it hasnīt been bad,
the light rains must have helped.
