Hi Nan,

    YESSSS!  Real rain!   Not just spit.

I grow Echium handiensis and I know a few gardens where it grows as
well.  It is indeed low (to maybe 2.5  to 3ft..) but spreads wide to 4
ft. or so.  It is coming into bloom now and the color is true blue.
Flower heads are  only about 4" across and full of stamens so they look
fuzzy . Love it!
Advice:  Grow it in +full+ sun. Mine got shaded out on the back side by
the melianthus so has none!
              In one Pasadena garden:  Too much filtered shade,  so it
spreads wide and leggy - still blooms
              In Capistrano Beach: Full sun; compact growth and bloom.
