Oh good grief, one hoped that the inanities of political correctness
would stay away from this group. We were criticised in Bristol market
for having Kaffir lilies on our stall so in my cynical way I stuck a new
label on them saying " Ethnic African Lilies" on them and much to my
horror got congratulated on the new nomenclature. Yuk. Surely words are
completely harmless and it is the attitude behind them that is
important; concentrating on words merely diverts from the more thorny
problem of entrenched racism and appears to be the younger generations
easy way out (my daughters will kill me if they read this)
