Jan, Joan - Many thanks for the info. Fascinating! And I thought I
knew the Canary Is. flora reasonably well. Nothing as stimulating as
the inexhaustible well of one's own ignorance!
And, Jan - many thanks for the offer to collect seed in summer.
Needless to say, accepted with enthusiasm! There shouldn't be any
problem about sending - 'packetted seed: no commercial value' on the
customs declaration usually does the trick. Optimistically, I'll add
my snail-mail to this (helps to convince me that summer's actually
coming!):

Still cold, still a raw NE wind here, but sunny and blue - indeed, 'a
