Are they likely to have fungus that will spread spores to the new leaves? I think a clean new start is a good idea, but it depends on how many trees you have. I have twenty apples, and many other fruit trees also. If you can't strip off leaves on them all, I would concentrate on the varieties most susceptible to scab, or mildew or whatever trees get in your area. Diane Whitehead Victoria, B.C. Canada
