Angela,
I grow mine in a 20 inch terra cotta pot (20" tall and wide). Now, I'm looking at
it and wondering if it should go up to a 22 or 24". But, I won't for a while
because the bigger pots are expensive and it doesn't seem to be suffering in the
summer. But pomegranates are fairly drought tolerant and seem to have taken much
abuse from man down through the ages, so I guess mine will continue to grow and
produce in it's confined quarters.
There is a true dwarf pomegranate called 'Elfin King' growing only a couple of feet
high with bright orange flowers and small, hard (inedible) fruit. It's often used as
a shrub in Provence and Italy, as well as a container plant. You might enjoy that
one if you're not interested in fruit.
