No doubt this is the same everywhere. Certainly we find that in NZ.
I have a list of aggressive exotic weeds from the Auckland region many
of which in our more southerly situation, far from spreading, are
actually difficult to grow at all.
On the other hand the hardier kinds can "go bush" with disastrous
results almost anywhere in the country.
It seems any organism (plant or animal) offered optimum life conditions
in an area where natural checks and balances are few or lacking, has
serious pest potential (like our possums, for instance, just as much as
Ginger Plant and Wandering Willy)
