Hi Barbara-
Not a thought on how to save the rose but just some of my thoughts on roses
in the garden in general. I get the catalogs every year, and I am so easily
seduced, but after years of this I find that I am just editing down to the
roses that actually look good as shrubs in my garden consistently, without
babying. I wish I had enough land for a hidden cutting and kitchen garden
where I could indulge, but some roses just don't look great in the
border---and sometimes you don't know which these will be until you try. My
attitude: if it doesn't look good after two years in the garden, get
ruthless and try something else.

Don't get the idea that this is easy for me! I'm still struggling over
whether to keep the Taboo that never looked too strong......but oh that dark
red flower.......

Best Wishes,
Laura in LA
