I enjoyed hearing about David trip into the northern coast - we had plans
for some day trips over the holiday into at least Point Reyes (a park on
the coast north of San Francisco) but the continuous wet weather put us
off. In many areas rainfall amounts this winter are already 2-3 times
normal for the entire year!! And our 'normal' wettest months are
January-February! In the previous 2 winters I can recall not receiving
much rain at all BEFORE New Years, and each of those years we received a
reasonably normal amount for our area. Makes me wonder what we have in
store for the rest of the wet season!
I've noticed many plants rushing into flower locally, now well watered and
the generally mild temperatures. My rosemaries are already in full flower,
Roldana has many large burgundy flower heads, passionflowers are still
flowering and fruiting. Now, with the promise of a bit of sun, things may
really take off!
Happy New Year!
