Re: vinegar

I've used vinegar as an herbicide for the last 18 months or so.

It works well just putting it in a regular sprayer and spraying
the weeds. It works especially well against Oxalis (although
it will only kill the above ground part). My experience is that
vinegar works best against weeds that have broad, tender
leaves and less well against weeds that have thin, tough
leaves.

The only problems I've had is that vinegar will also damage
leaves of plants that are not weeds (similar to a lot of
herbicides). Also, the acid in vinegar seems to react
with something in concrete, so don't apply it near
sidewalks and driveways.

I think that vinegar functions as an herbicide by the effect
of the acid directly on the leaf. That has been my experience.

I used vinegar just recently. I used the vinegar that was
left over from pickling my peppers.

Vinegar has a definite place for me in weed management.
The fact that Oxalis is so sensitive to it makes it especially
useful.
