We got our mushroom compost from a company called Bossi Mushroom Farm in Colfax and I believe they told us their compost was organic (not made from animal products)
Unless you intended to imply that the compost was organic AND did not contain animal products I must protest at your definition. Being organic is of itself no reason why it would not contain animal products. though to be perfectly correct any that ARE in it should come from wild animals or farm animals reared organically.
Making "Organic" compost certainly does not embrace only the use of vegetable products, but can include any suitable materials uncontaminated with synthetic chemicals. In fact animal manure and by-products are perfectly normal (though not essential) sources of nitrogen and other major elements for making a good balanced organic compost.
