I wanted to thank all of you who responded so generously to my question about underplanting around my Gary Oak.
Your replies have been most helpful.  I think I will follow Bill's suggestion of Cyclamen - a beautiful picture - and also add a good sprinkling of small tulip and daffodil species.
Would a bit of Salal, or Huckleberry interspersed be ok for the Oak?

Re places to purchase large amounts of Cyclamen relatively inexpensively, Bill suggested,  back channel,  that I look at Hansen Nursery in Oregon and Hortus Group (wholesale suppliers) in Salinas.  If any of you have other favorite, or well thought of sources, please let me know.
