Hi Richard -
You've gotten the correct ID on your first Geranium species.
The second does look like an immature plant of G. maderense, but I
suspect that it may be a one of two closely related species - G.
canariense or G. palmatum. I find it has to tell these two species
apart - both produce leaves like your specimen that can become 6-10
inches in diameter and occasional to regular sprays of small flowers
hovering atop the foliage mass.
The true G. madarense has leaves that eventually become much larger.
It remains a large leafy clump for a year or two, then dramatically
puts forth a tremendous tower of thousands of flowers (which is
ultimately the end of the plant). This dramatic species has become
very popular of late and Annies Annuals has even occasionally offered
a white form of this species.
Each of these Altantic Island species in interesting in having a very
minimal root system, hardly capable ot keep the plant erect - this
task is delegated to the spent leaf stalks will recurve down to form a
cone of 'stilts' that help support the plant! So don't be overly
fussy about removing all the dead foliage (otherwise your plant may
fall over).
