We saw a number of silk floss trees in Lisbon when we were there recently. Unfortunately, they wrongly called them kapok trees. The downside is all the spikes on the trunks which can be dangerous, but they sure are pretty when in bloom.

On a trip to South America we also saw many of these silk floss trees -- got some seeds and now have two trees in the back yard. Wife has complained about those spikes and I thought about putting "Keep Away" signs on the trunks.
