Phlomis

Debbie,
Here in Ireland I grow Phlomis fructicosa which in 3 years has become a
shrub 3 ft high with a spread of 5 ft.It keeps most of its grey, slightly
furry leaves in winter and I find it a useful addition to the garden at this
of year. P.russeliana came to me as seed from my sister in England two years
ago.It has yet to flower with me but makes a good ground cover of large
evergreen heart -shaped leaves.
Can anyone help me identify my third Phlomis? It has a pale pink flower, has
retained most of its furry grey leaves and grows with me to a height of 2 ft.
We have an annual rainfall of 48 inches, min temps in winter of -5c for
short periods with very rare drops to -7c, seldom have snow cover and
summers reaching low 20s c. Most damage to the shrubby P.fructicosa seems to
come from wind damage to brittle branches.
Jane
