Nan,

I seen Salvia dorrii in the eastern Mojave, Panamint Mtns, Nelson Range
(between Panamint and Saline Valleys), and at Schulman Grove in the Inyo
Mtns (10,000 ft) and have some data from transects in the eastern Mojave
that have Salvia dorrii. I've also tried to grow it in Alameda (San
Francisco bay). It germinates well, establishes seedlings, a few of which
grow to maturity, flower and provide viable seed. However, the longest any
Salvia dorrii ever lived in my garden was 3 1/2 years. I suspect that S.
dorrii lives much longer in its native habitat.
