I thought some members of the group might be interested in the
organization OPTIMA, as I don't remember any recent postings about them
(sorry if there were...) If your interest in Mediterranean plants veers
towards the scientific, and you don't already know about OPTIMA, then do
check out their Web site at:

To quote from their general information page: "The Organization for the 
Phyto-Taxonomic Investigation of the Mediterranean Area (OPTIMA) is an 
international association of botanists interested in the Mediterranean 
area. OPTIMA encompasses botany in its widest sense and deals with all 
groups of plants and all disciplines which have an impact on systematic 
studies."
