Bob:

I believe Central Coast Growers has this sage. It likes to grow in a vining
fashion in shade near sun. First, it stretches upwards, growing through
supporting vegettion, then arcs outward into the sun, droops and forms
flower heads with 4 - 5 inch scarlet flowers at around 6 - 8 feet in the
air. At least that is what I remember from Roger and Dorothy's description.

It grows in old gardens in Cuzco, Peru and is supposed to be a sacred plant
to the Incas. As with many high-elevation Andean plants, it can be a very
difficult plant to grow. I got it once, and lost it in my humid subtropical
weather in North Carolina. I've been told it can be difficult for people in
California as well.

PLEASE NOTE: CCG is a wholesale nursery catering to landscapers. I don't
know of any retail or mail-order nurseries. I'd like that info for myself.
