Just some for-your-information-type trivia: While South Africa has one
of the largest *number* of both endemic and endangered plants for a
given geographic region, it by no means has the highest *percentage* in
those categories.
The hands down winner is the Hawaiian archipelago with approximately 91
percent of all species being endemic (this is the highest percentage of
endemic species on Earth) and approximately 50% of all endemic plants
listed by various researchers as threatend, endangered or extinct.
