Betsy Clebsch, who wrote the new salvia book,
lives in the hills above Palo Alto where herds of deer roam. She built TWO
fences about 6 feet apart to encircle her garden. They are 4-5 ft high. Deer
will not jump over two fences - at leas that is the evidence after ten years.
The fences are not ugly, and she grows plants between the fences that the deer
may nip but do not destroy. Aesthetically they look quite nice. bill
