Now what would one expect to be headline news
in the San Francisco [California, USA] Chronicle today?
Racial warfare in Jugoslavia? Impeachment trial of the
U.S president? Nope, "State Plague of Thistles" -
Star Thistles, to be more precise, the
plant I favour least, after Toxicodendron,
Centaurea solstitialis.
A quite acceptable article, as newspapers go.
A fairly detailed map shows old Star Thistles
infesting just about all the pasture and hay crop
regions of California.
