I think it's Ehrharta (-ia?), from South Africa. Peter
Baye, of California Native Plant Society, said it's
growing rampantly under the Cupressus macrocarpa
groves at Point Lobos near Carmel, outcompeting the
Erigeron there. In my sandy backyard it survives on
virtually no water and produces copious seed. ech.
I've almost given up on ever getting rid of it without
chemicals.
