Hi Barbara,

maybe it's the variety of lily. we have lilies that come up every year at
least for the last three years.
some orange ones have been there before we moved into the house so I
assume they are older than three years old. I also planted
white Casablancas
when we moved in three years ago and they are blooming beautifully right
now. I've never fed them or fussed over them. Usually I forget they are
there until I come across the leaves while weeding. both beds have drip
irrigation on heavy clay soil although I have been moving the tubes around
lately so I don't know how much water they are actually getting. The Casa
Blancas are under the filtered shade of some guava bushes while the
unknown orange ones are in full sun. neither get very tall for me (1-2 ft
and I think Casablanca should be taller) but I am just grateful they
flower so well considering that I've never provided anything except water.
I live behind marina del rey in los angeles-morning clouds, afternoon sun,
somewhat chilly at night. a lot like berkeley but 10 degrees F warmer all
around. oh, the Casablancas were planted from tubers, not from a potted
plant. hmmm, maybe they don't transplant well.
